I’m traveling this week, and while my hotel gym is pretty well-equipped, it’s been super-busy this week. So I’ve had to improvise a bit with some of my workouts.

I LOVE bodyweight workouts for this reason. Especially ones that require little to no equipment.

I had planned to do treadmill sprints yesterday, but both treadmills were in use…so I pulled out my jump rope and went to town on this little variation of a Spartan WOD (workout of the day). I tell ya…I think the sprints would have been easier – lol!

I love having workouts like these up my sleeve for occasions like yesterday – or for anytime. I do not believe body weight workouts should replace heavier weight training, but they sure come in handy and can be a great complement to training.

And for a less seasoned or new exerciser, they can be a great place to start a fitness journey. They are totally scaleable, which makes them great for most everyone.

In addition to the one above, here are four more of my favorite go-to bodyweight workouts – in no particular order:

Crossfit Angie

I love this one because it hits just about everything!

The Famous Jillfit Closet Plyo Workout:
This one consists of six plyometric exercises done Tabata style (20 secs on/10 secs off) – 6 rounds (3 minutes) of each of the following:
Squat Jumps
Plyo push-ups
Switch Jumps
Mountain Climbers
New Jacks
Burpees

The Jillfit Birthday Workout

This one works best outside, but you can certainly do it indoors as well. You can also sub high knees for the sprints.

Prime Life Fit Bodyweight Blast Workout:

Again, you can sub high knees for the treadmill sprint (or use a jump rope).

Do you incorporate bodyweight workouts into your training? If so, what are some of your favorite workouts? I’d love to hear them!
