I am totally missing my workout partner, Jill, this week – she’s out of town for a Yoga retreat – so I’m on my own as far as getting my workouts in. On Tuesday, I tried this little leg circuit out. It’s a variation of one that Jill and I have been doing.  After kicking my own booty with it, decided to try it out on my training clients.  Suffice it to say there was a bit of moaning and groaning going on :-).

Circuit the following exercises back-to-back – complete 4 rounds total, pushing as hard as you can and resting when needed (Metabolic Effect style!):

  • 10 reps each leg moderately heavy Smith Machine lunge
  • 10 reps each leg weighted “pop” lunges (hold weights at shoulders and jump up from a static lunge position)
  • 10 reps each lunge/deadlift/lunge
  • 20 reps mountain climbers

Finish with a burnout of body weight walking lunges, pulse lunges, air squats, squat pulses and squat jumps. About 30 secs each.
